Join the Nehalem Bay Crab Derby at The Jetty Fishery!
Every year, The Jetty Fishery hosts the Nehalem Bay Crab Derby to raise money for local charities. In 2025, all proceeds will benefit the Rockaway Beach Lions Club and the Neah-Kah-Nie Junior Baseball Organization.
How does it work?
It’s easy to join the fun—just buy a $10 derby ticket!
At 9 AM, we release 26 tagged, commercial-size crabs into Nehalem Bay. If you catch a tagged crab before 5 PM, bring it and your ticket to the store. You keep the crab—we’ll keep the tag and your ticket.
At 5 PM, everyone who turned in a tagged crab will draw for a prize. The grand prize is $2,000, and there are 25 other awesome prizes!
What if no one catches a tagged crab?
If some prizes go unclaimed, we donate the cash value to the charities. Then, we raffle off the remaining prizes to anyone who bought a derby ticket—so even if you didn’t go crabbing, you could still win great stuff like boat rentals, crab rings, fresh crab, and more!

Every year we ask for donations some some businesses go above and beyond to support the the Crab Derby! We want to give a huge shoutout to Clatsop Distributing, Englund marine, and Ed’s seafood for providing the first donations for the Nehalem Bay Crab Derby at the Jetty Fishery!

Most people play musical chairs, not us! We'll do musical buckets, crates, or even buoys! Winner usually gets a cake or cupcakes or something not so healthy but oh so good!
